Ron Cameron has over eight years of experience as an account director and investor relations consultant and is currently a senior adviser at FIRST Advisers. Prior to investor relations consulting, Ron’s career spanned nearly 24 years in both retail and institutional stockbroking as an equity  research analyst (resources and diversified industrials), writer/editor of key marketing and strategy documents, portfolio manager and key media spokesperson. The transition to investor relations consulting was a natural progression from his prior experience and background in capital markets. Trained as a geologist, Ron gained valuable practical experience in gold, base metals and energy, for nearly ten years, as an exploration and development ‘geo’ throughout North America and Australia.

Ron’s consulting experience spans a wide range of corporate entities, primarily in the resources sector, from micro-cap to mid-cap listed companies. His research background and advisory roles have resulted in a portfolio of sector experience ranging from base and precious metals through to energy  companies. This understanding of the interaction between investment fundamentals in the resources sector, coupled with the trends of underlying commodity markets and the relationship of the two through the cycle, is paramount in being able to deliver appropriate communications solutions to clients.

Ron has a BSc. (Honours – Geology) degree from the University of Toronto, is a Master Stockbroker of the SAA (Stockbrokers Association of Australia), and is a Member of AUSIMM (Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy).
