The FIRST Advisers’ Proxy Solicitation practice has taken a prime position in the 2017 Intermediary Awards, as the top ranked Australian Proxy firm and the 6th ranked globally. FIRST Advisers is the only Australian specialist in Activist campaigns to feature in the top 10 rankings, which are dominated by US and European firms, many of which have global operations.
FIRST Advisers is a leading independent Australian Investor Relations and Corporate Communications firm. The 2017 Intermediary Awards are compiled by the UK based Activist Insight magazine.
FIRST Advisers director Victoria Geddes said that it is gratifying that the hard work of the firm’s proxy solicitation team has been recognised on the global stage. “Our Proxy expertise is an extension of our investor relations, shareholder analytics and financial media practices. A good shareholder engagement campaign is much more powerful when operating as an integral part of a team that is sharing their combined experience and knowledge of strategy and tactics in this space. In the year to date, our corporate and investor clients succeeded in over 75% of Activist campaigns in which we were involved,” Victoria said.
She noted that, in reaching its decision, Activist Insight commented that ‘The FIRST Advisers Proxy Solicitation practice has taken advantage of a bustling market for corporate control to establish itself as a solicitor to both activists and issuers, including highly contested fights at Molopo Energy and Bellamy’s Australia.’
The Proxy Solicitation Firm league tables are derived from public announcements including proxy statements, regulatory filings, and press releases. To be included, a campaign must have seen the company in question subjected to a public demand by an activist during 2017.
